So I got the latest issue of Shonen Jump in the mail this past week (March 2008), & while I was reading the Bleach manga something immediately stood out to me. Shonen Jump was editing Matsumoto! As soon as I saw the above image I knew something was wrong. Her gianormous breasts seemed more covered than usual, & after checking out the Japanese version I was right in assuming that SJ added in an extra shirt for her to wear.
Now edits in Shonen Jump are nothing new. Despite being pretty much uncut in its first year in America, since then Viz's magazine has edited out swear words, swastikas, middle fingers, & even the occasional cigarette. But this time I feel they went to far. How dare they cover up my fan-service! & I don't even like Matsumoto all that much (Hinamori & Orihime plz, thnx). All this seems especially odd considering this advertisement for a One Piece video game in the very same issue:

Isn't Robin's outfit here pretty much the same thing as what Matsumoto is wearing? & they're both Shonen Jump characters at that. For shame, Shonen Jump. For shame. I scanned & made two more comparison pics below, both of which dealt with nudity in the Japanese version (nothing too obscene) but had the characters clothed in the English version:
