Bleach Edits in US Shonen Jump

So I got the latest issue of Shonen Jump in the mail this past week (March 2008), & while I was reading the Bleach manga something immediately stood out to me. Shonen Jump was editing Matsumoto! As soon as I saw the above image I knew something was wrong. Her gianormous breasts seemed more covered than usual, & after checking out the Japanese version I was right in assuming that SJ added in an extra shirt for her to wear.

Now edits in Shonen Jump are nothing new. Despite being pretty much uncut in its first year in America, since then Viz's magazine has edited out swear words, swastikas, middle fingers, & even the occasional cigarette. But this time I feel they went to far. How dare they cover up my fan-service! & I don't even like Matsumoto all that much (Hinamori & Orihime plz, thnx). All this seems especially odd considering this advertisement for a One Piece video game in the very same issue:

Isn't Robin's outfit here pretty much the same thing as what Matsumoto is wearing? & they're both Shonen Jump characters at that. For shame, Shonen Jump. For shame. I scanned & made two more comparison pics below, both of which dealt with nudity in the Japanese version (nothing too obscene) but had the characters clothed in the English version:

Well do you really expect them not too? But that add is confusing. Since I'd bet Robin and Nami are lesser then Ms. Number 1 chest there. Great pictures though. But how can Kon nose bleed if he's just stuffed.

you just have to realize that kon is a modified soul in a stuffed animal... but... i guess it's just one of those anime/manga things???

True. But it is still weird. But I guess who ever made those Mod Souls did a great job.

Exactly.

They would have seen Ian, this nose bleed incident or whatever would have happened and if they weren't, it weren't bleeding on the camera, you know, the [Soham] CCTV.

There was not one ornament or picture which recalled Japan, or gave a clue to the personal tastes of the owners.

It's also worth noting that while the edits are made in the magazine, they're left unedited when the graphic novel is released.

not necessarily. their pretty consistent with the edits from SJ to the graphic novels... though I remember one edit they didn't do in the first chapter of Naruto that they did in the graphic novel and I surprisingly picked up on it.

Of course you noticed it, that undershirt is about as obvious as a rhinoceros in a sundress. I don't know what pisses me off more; the fact that people think these asinine edits are necessary or how gawddamned obvious the censors make them. It's like a giant red light going off showing how little these pricks respect us.
