Yu-Gi-Oh: 5D's First Look  


An image of the upcoming new Yu-Gi-Oh series, Yu-Gi-Oh: 5D's, has been leaked online. This scan shows us who the new main characters are & some info on the series. The protagonist is Yusei Fudo (Yugi > Yuki > Yusei), who is a Duel Rider. The story takes place in futuristic version of Domino City (GX took place in the future as well, but it's unknown how far ahead this series is).

This series comes at the same time where there are a lot of changes to the card game, such as changing the phrasing of actions when dueling, new types of monsters that will be part of one's Extra Deck (previously known as Fusion Deck), & the unbanning of Monster Reborn. But since NebsTV focuses more around the anime then the actual card game, I'm only focusing on the info about 5D's. Translations of the above scan can be found after the jump:

Cast:
  • Yusei Fudo - Yuya Miyashita (new/unknown seiyuu)
  • Aki Izayo - Ayumi Kinoshita (Rei Aoki in Glass Mask, Yellow DekaRanger)
  • Jack Atlas - Takanori Hoshino (Van in GunXSword, Shido Fuyuki in Getbackers)
  • Ryua - Ai Horanai (Belo in Humanoid Monster Bem)
  • Ryuka - Yuka Terasaki (Takachan in Bokura ga Ita, Basil in Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Info:
  • The Main Character is Fudou, Yuusei. He is a D-Wheel operating Duel Rider, who commands a Red D-Wheel, and is a rare kind of Duelist. He is known for his genius style dueling, his considerable duel skill, and his cool and clever personality.
  • He is aided by Rua and Ruka, a pair of twins, who make fun of fate. They adore Yuusei, and have been in many tough battles. Rua is lively and blundering, while following his calm and collected sister, Ruka.
  • The main female is Izayoi, Aki, a girl with the "Super Ability", a power that can only be used through anguish and sadness. However, meeting Yuusei changes things...
  • Yuusei's rival is "Jack Atlas", who controls the "King", and is known as the "Absolute King of the Riding Duel". He fears Yuusei's Genius-like dueling, which has crushed every battle opponent in his path.

It seems a little dissapointing to me. It seems to be changed so much, phrase of duel is changed too? Well, anything is fine as long as the duels are good. But I fear that the phrase "Riders" or new kind of extra decks may make the game ... strange too. Anyways, thanks for the info. Knowing this, i have to enjoy the last eps of GX as much as i can :D

I really hope they include some idea of the traditional card game in this anime. Thus far I'm seeing Duelist on Bikes in some odd "extreme dueling" manner...

5Ds
As far as I can tell, this new series seems to be a long-shot from the general storyline. I'll give it a chance but i'm not as thrilled as i was with GX. Just wait until 4Kids gets their hands on it. we might have to "get our game on" again. The thing that catches my attention is the "extra deck". I do play the card game and this has me curious. An "extra" deck could change the card game drastically. on the other hand it could be the new phrasing you mentioned. Only time will tell.

Changing the Fusion Deck to Extra deck is not just simply changing the name. In addition to Fusion Monsters, it'll feature new types of monsters that can only be summoned in brand new ways. So yes, I do think it'll change the card game drastically.

My apologies, WhiteRose. ^^;; But the truth is I found out about the image long before you posted about it in the tag-board. I received about a dozen emails about before you had mentioned it, but I knew before them too. I even knew about it before it started popping up on Janime, but due to laptop problems & other issues, I wasn't able to post about until very late. But believe me that when it comes to breaking Yu-Gi-Oh anime news, I'll always be one of the first to find out. ^_~ That doesn't mean I don't appreciate you & others sending me news tips, though. I always welcome such thins. ^_^

the original creator of the anime is Kazuki Takahashi,the original creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! series

But not GX and this.. Kazuki Takahashi only makes the manga of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yu-Gi-Oh R.. well he did involve in creating the characters and card but not the story line..

Changes to the game
I wonder if these changes to the game and the "Unbanning of Monster Reborn" are ganna be done to the actual card game along with the anime

Actually all the changes I mentioned were in reference to the actual card game. It hasn't even been confirmed that 5Ds will follow these new "Master Rules," but I think it's pretty obvious that it will. The unbanning of Monster Reborn in the IRL card game was probably done so that they could use it in the anime again.

I'm not looking forward so much for this new series. I got really dissapointed with the previous one. (GX) But it does look promising.

As a rabid YGO fan, I personally cannot wait for 5D's. I'm always open to changes...but I am hoping they'll be some more good looking characters other than Jack and Yusei. =P
