The Nintendo Wii isn't the one in town that'll be getting a port of Phoenix Wright. Capcom Japan recently announced that the first Ace Attorney video game will be making its way over to the iPhone & iPod Touch. While it'll mostly remain faithful to the Game Boy Advance classic, the game will be modified to take full advantage of the iPhone's features.

No date or price point has been revealed yet. The game is also Japan-only for the time being. But the Capcom Mobile American branch is already looking into bringing an English version to Apple's App Store as well.

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine in Japan has confirmed that Phoenix Wright is indeed coming to the Nintendo Wii. & just as expected, it isn't a new title but rather ports of the handheld classics coming to the downloadable WiiWare center.

The first "Ace Attorney" game (the original based on the GBA version) will hit the WiiWare in Japan on December 15 for 900 points. "Justice for All" comes out January 26 & "Trials & Tribulations" hits February 23, each of them costing 1200 points. & finally, the special "Rise from the Ashes" trial, the fifth trial that was exclusively available on the DS version of the first game, comes out March 16 for 300 points. Sadly, no American date has yet been announced. But it HAS to be a matter of time. No way these wont hit here.

Just as when Capcom released an online demo of the Apollo Justice game last year, they've now put up a demo of the first chapter for the upcoming Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Only this time they made it look like you're playing on a Nintendo DSi (not the DSi XL) rather than a DS Lite. The Phoenix Wright spin-off title still wont be hitting North America until February 16, 2010, but this demo should help fight off those Ace Attorney shakes in the meantime. I personally cannot wait. You can find much more info on the game as well as other goodies at the official English website:

According to Germany's USK rating system, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is headed to the Nintendo Wii. One theory right now is that it'll just be a WiiWare port of the original game. Meaning you'll be able to download it the your Wii & it'll be the same as the the first title we all know & love.

However, it doesn't specifically say it'll be on the WiiWare. Meaning it might be brand new physical Wii title, one that you go to stores to buy. If that's the case, it could either be an enhanced remake of the original or even a brand new title in the saga. But since it hasn't even been officially confirmed that Phoenix will be coming to the Wii in any shape or form, we'll have to wait& see what type of game this will be.

The Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney series is awesome & all, but it's had its time in the limelight. The trilogy of the main game is finished, & there are some more spin-off games coming out, but perhaps it's time to move on to something new while still keeping the unique spirit of the franchise.

Enter "Ghost Trick," the brand new Nintendo DS game from Takumi Shuu, the creator of the Gyakuten Saiban series. Due out in Japan sometime next year, Capcom says the story is about a guy named Sissel who was killed, but comes back as a spirit with special powers. Unfortunately he's lost his memories, so you have to try to find out who he is & why he was murdered before his soul disappears for good. There's also a female detective who was your only eyewitness, but you have to protect her from a sniping assassin who's out to get her.

So yes, it's a mystery adventure game that's already shaping up to be just as quirky as Phoenix Wright. More information will likely be made available at the Tokyo Game Show that's right around the corner. & of course, no news of the game heading over to the US yet.

Lots of videos of the Phoenix Wright musical have been appearing online as of late. The video above for instance is a behind-the-scenes look at the musical in Japan, taking a look at a backstage rehearsal. But even cooler than is footage of the musical itself has also appeared online- & it's subbed! So if you wanted to check this crazy event out & don't live in Japan & don't understand Japanese, this is your day. Check out a bunch of footage here:

It turns out that Capcom had originally toyed with the idea of having Phoenix Wright as a playable character in their "Tatsunoko vs Capcom" fighting game. Not only him, but antiheroine Franziska von Karma as well. So despite sounding like an awesome idea (Phoenix fighting against Casshern?! Franziska whipping Gatchaman?!), why did plans fall through on this? It's actually because of concerns of localizing the game into English, believe it or not. Producer Ryota Niitsuma explains:

It's now finally been confirmed that the Phoenix Wright spin-off game starring prosecutor Miles Edgeworth will be coming to the US! It's official English name is "Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth." Instead of the courtroom, the crime scene takes the focus in this game. We'll be getting it sometime this Winter. Check out the official English trailer above, & then hit the jump for more video game videos that cater to anime fans:

With the Phoenix Wright spin-off game Gyakuten Kenji (fandubbed as Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor) due out next month in Japan, a brand new Ace Attorney manga based on the new game has now been announced. The manga will follow the adventures of the two main characters from the new game, Miles Edgeworth & Dick Gumshoe (Reiji Mitsurugi & Keisuke Itonokogiri). It will launch in Weekly Young Magazine starting next week.

Not only that, but the new game is also getting its very own Nintendo DSi bundle pack as well. The bundle will include the Gyakuten Kenji game as well as a limited edition Ace Attorney themed DSi. The DSi was just released this week in the US (already got mine!), but it seems doubtful that we'll ever see this Ace Attorney version in our country. Booo!

The all-female live-action Phoenix Wright musical has been so successful & popular in Japan that Capcom recently announced that they'll be doing a second one. The sequel musical will be on stage starting August 20th & will end in Tokyo on September 15. You can see some bits & pieces of the first musical in the video above as well as in the previous video I posted. According to Capcom:

Remember that new Phoenix Wright project that was talked about last month, which we all thought might be an anime series? Well the official announcement was made this week during the Gyakuten Meets Orchestra event in Japan, & it wasn't for an anime adaptation Rather, it was for a Phoenix Wright musical. An all female cast musical. Another interesting note is that the main character will actually go by his English name (Phoenix Wright) instead of his Japanese one (Ryuichi Naruhodo). Pretty odd all around, this project be.

The live stage production will begin on February 5th & end in Tokyo on March 2nd, & the plot is said to include some romance. This is something I myself & I'm sure many Ace Attorney fans have been dying to see from these characters for a long time. There's so much material for romance between many of these characters that we've been begging for it to happen! Not to mention since all the characters will be played by girls, we can expect some hot lesbian action. =b

Right after finding out we'll be getting the Phoenix Wright manga in September, word now comes out that an anime version of the popular video game series might be announced in Japan that same month. The Gyakuten Meets Orchestra blog has reported that a new project is in the works, & it involves special illustrations & voice recording.

HOLD IT! It has to be a new video game, right? OBJECTION! They also specifically state that it's NOT a game. On top of that, we're already aware of a new Ace Attorney game that's coming out in Japan, so this just has to be something else. TAKE THAT!

After reviewing the evidence before us, all signs right now point to it being an anime adaptation. What ever it is, the blog states that it has been in the works for a few years now, but things kept getting in the way. An anime version has been something of a dream for fans of the franchise for many years now, & those like myself would love to see it come to fruition. Let's just hope that it finally comes true.

It was at last year's San Diego Comic-Con that Del Rey announced they had acquired the American rights to the Phoenix Wright manga, but it took them a year longer than they expected to finally release it. But now the time is finally night for us Ace Attorney fans! Amazon has the first volume, titled "Official Casebook Vol. 1: the Phoenix Wright Files" listed with a September 30th release date. The second & final volume, titled "Official Casebook Vol. 2: the Miles Edgeworth Files," is listed as coming out on February 24, 2009. According to the official product description for the first volume:

The next Ace Attorney game has been announced! But this game will be going in a different direction then the others, mainly in that it wont be about an attorney at all. Rather, this time around you'll be playing on the other side of the bench by taking on a role of an old fan favorite. Enter Miles Edgeworth: Perfect Prosecutor!

Players this time around will be playing the role of prosecutor with the character that makes all Ace Attorney fan girls squeal, the cold but hidden big-hearted Edgeworth, who's been Phoenix Wright's main rival of the first three games. Joining Edgy in this new game will be another old favorite, Detective Gumshoe, who will take on the role of your sidekick. Perhaps the biggest new addition here is that you'll actually be doing a lot of walking in the game. Famitsu shows a bunch of character art of Edgeworth in different walking positions, which will no doubt look smoother when animated together.

Not much else is known about the game, including when it's expected to come out nor when in the Ace Attorney storyline the game will take place. Personally I'm betting it'll take place between games 3 & 4, but we'll have to wait to find out for sure. It's also not certain if this game is the aforementioned 5th Ace Attorney game, or if that's still to come "Perfect Prosecutor" is being treated as a different game altogether. I know I got a hoot in the last case of game 3 when the gamer suddenly switched from playing as Phoenix to playing as Edgeworth. Many others probably had the same amount of glee, which prompted Capcom to make a spin-off game based on that premise. Can't wait!

Loved the first three Ace Attorney games but are hesitant to pick up the fourth now that you're not Phoenix Wright anymore? Well now you can give Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney a test drive right here on the Nebs Blog! A good chunk of the first case is fully playable right here, officially provided by Capcom. So what are you waiting? Try it before you buy it! The game doesn't come out until February 12, so this the perfect chance to test it out.
