Today was Lelouch's birthday, or at least it would be assuming that he's still alive. But instead of all of us getting him a present, he gave us one. Bandai's official mobile website confirmed on this most holiest of days that a brand new Code Geass project has been green-lit. The message was left by none other than Zero himself.

There's no real mention on what this new project is, other than it'll be a "rebirth." By this I take it they mean some sort of reimagining or spin-off, similar to the various manga versions out there. Considering how conclusive R2's final episode was, I don't see how they could do a direct sequel. Of course there's no guarantee that this new project is even an anime, though we're pretty sure it is. It might be a movie or OVA rather than a new series, though. Here's a translation of the message Zero left on the mobile site:

In honor of the Anime Network's 7th birthday, their website is once again letting all their videos be viewable completely for free for the day. Usually you have to be a paid member to watch most of the episodes on the site, but today you can every episode they have on there completely for free!

At the same time, they also began adding three new series today- Blue Drop, Polyphonica, & Special A. Only the first two episodes of each of the new series is up so far, but it's a great way to get one introduced to the series. & to give you incentive to purchase a membership from them as well. So don't dolly around here any longer, get to watching all the free anime while you can here:

June kicks off with two Code Geass birthdays, most notable of which being the voluptuous Villeta Nu. Part soldier, part high school gym teacher, all hot. Though personally I'd rather go with another anime gal celebrating her birthday this month, Hinamori from Bleach. Check out the list, after the jump:

It's already a few days into April, but better late then never! April sees the birthday of Gundam 00's main protagonist, Setsuna F Seiei! He's got plenty of company though. The gorgeous Asuna from Negima, Masaru Daimon from Digimon Savers, & two of the Straw Hat Pirates celebrate this month as well! In fact Usopp's birthday is on April Fools Day, which seems very appropriate. Bo-Bobo (in the manga versions anyway) & Hanataro also share a b-day on April 1. Again, very appropriate. See more highlights below:

(EDIT: Updated to add a few more characters, including several Yu-Gi-Oh ones.)

March always seems short on anime character birthdays, but at least it contains come good ones. In fact there are quite a few lovely, hot-blooded, pink haired tsundere characters. Sakura from Naruto, Hinagiku from Hayate, & of course Kallen from Code Geass! Okay, her hair's arguably not pink but red. Still though, close enough.

There are also male characters celebrating this month, FYI. Like, the Freaky Fish Guy himself! Hot off the heels from his last appearance in the Abridgeverse. There's also KINDA Edo Phoenix's birthday. No GX character has an official birthday, but I did find one website listing it on the 7th. So while it's probably not real, we got nothing else to go by. So happy birthday, Edo! See the rest below:

The shortest month of the year isn't short on anime birthdays! In fact there are even a few b-days on the 29th, which wont be occurring this year. But we do have Lloyd & Schenizel from Code Geass, Haruhi from Ouran, Allelujah from Gundam 00, & Light from Death Note celebrating this month. & let's not forgot two of the three babes from One Piece- Robin & Vivi. Happy New Year, everyone! When looking back on 2008 & asking what people thought the best anime of the year was, more than likely you'll hear "Code Geass R2" or "Gundam 00," but those are all series that are aimed at those who watch anime already. I like to think what the best anime was that you could show to a non-anime fan & say "I don't care if you don't like anime, you'll like this." This year, I'd probably have to go with Bamboo Blade. A really good, enjoyable series all around. Anyway, on to the January character birthdays:

Here's one birthday I wasn't aware of when I compiled the anime birthday list for December. It's Francesca Lucchini from "Strike Witches," as seen above in this nice & festive image. The naughty loli, my fav character, from the hit Gonzo series celebrates her big day on Christmas Eve it seems. So does that mean she's now turned 13? Cue the otakus who'll say "She's too old now."

Happy Birthday, Francesca! & a Merry Christmas!

The final month of the year gives us tons of anime character birthdays to celebrate. We got lovely tsunderes like Nagi from Hayate & Asuka from Evangelion. We got twisted geniuses like Lelouch from Code Geass & Mello from Death Note. & for the first time, we got Gundam 00 characters listed! No big, notable b-days on Christmas day though, oddly enough. Check out the list below:
