Crunchyroll has announced that in addition to their regular anime membership, they'll soon be revealing a special new drama membership program as well. This membership will work solely with CR's live-action department on their website, which they've recently started expanding greatly for this new program. To celebrate & help launch the new event, a brand new drama series will be added every single day.

The first few episodes will be available to everyone for free right away, with future episodes filtering out over time. But if your an anime member or a soon-to-be drama member, you'll be able to watch entire series as soon as they're launched. In addition, those who get a drama membership will be able to watch all the live-action series in HD & experience no advertising, similar to what anime members currently enjoy.

Currently, Crunchyroll's drama catalog is much more heavily Korean than Japanese. Considering most of their partners are Korean, that only means even more Korean dramas being added. Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. But a lot of fans tend to be like "Japanese only or else it's crap!" But no worries there, because CR should also be getting a lot more J-dramas & J-horrors from Kadokawa beginning real soon.

No pricing information is revealed yet. But considering the current anime membership give to VIP access to all the content on the site & that the drama membership will only give you VIP access to the live-action stuff, I imagine it'll be a good amount cheaper.

Just as they did last year, Weekly Shonen Jump has uploaded some of the specials from the 2009 Jump Super Tour to its website. & also like last year, some of them have been given official English subtitles on its official English site.

The first video with English subs is the new Naruto special "Naruto: the Cross Roads." This special actually takes place way back when Sasuke was still a part of Team Kakashi, placing it well before the current Shippuden series. The special is also notable for being completely animated in CG, giving it a very interesting look. The other special is Toriko, a recent series that got its first ever anime adaptation for this tour. Toriko probably got the English sub treatment to help promote the manga coming to the US Shonen Jump magazine beginning next month.

While those are the only two titles on the English version of the website, the Japanese version also hosts an extended preview of the upcoming 10th One Piece movie. The Japanese version also promises to add an extended preview of the upcoming 10th Anniversary Yu-Gi-Oh movie soon. Whether or not that'll be added to the English site remains to be seen, though personally I doubt it. But you can at least check out the subbed Naruto & Toriko specials here:

It took long enough, but Crunchyroll has finally announced the last title of their Fall simulcasts. & it's a good one too- Yumeiro Patisserie, a shojo series about a young pastry chef. In truth I've been thinking about adding it to NebsTV, but now I don't have to worry about that. Not really sure why Crunchyroll had to wait such a long time to announce it, but I'm sure there was some rights issue or another in play.

The series is planned at 52 episodes long, & is based on the long running manga of the same name. So far four episodes have already aired in Japan. Currently Crunchyroll has yet to add any episodes, but promises they'll be coming soon. In the meantime, here's their synopsis of the story:

The first of the three web-exclusive episodes of Bakemonogatari was orginally supposed to go online today. However, the official website for the series announced earlier this week that the episode will be delayed by five days. The 13th episode, titled "Tsubasa Cat- Part 3," will now stream for free on November 2 instead.

Production delays have been named for the cause of the delay. While I am a bit peeved to wait a little while longer on this, I much prefer for SHAFT to give us a finished work that they were proud of rather than a rush job (*cough*episode10*cough*). So if waiting a few more days gives us a better episode then I'm all for it. So tune in to the official site on November 2nd to see the RAW episode for free, or tune in to NebsTV a few days shortly after that for the subbed version!

Crunchyroll had their second week of announcing their new Fall simulcasts last week. As expected, Fairy Tail was announced as one of their titles. Not as expected though is that this title will be different than any of their past simulcasts. For the first time, Fairy Tail will be a title only for paid members only. & even then each episode will only be available for 30 days before being taken down. CR explains that this was the only way they could get the title on their website, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to show it at all. But because of the way it is set up, it will be one of the few titles on the site that will be viewable completely worldwide (every Crunchyroll title has its own case-by-case licensing of which countries will be allowed to stream it).

Next up was one of the titles I correctly predicted, the yuri series Sasameki Koto. Considering they released that kissing iPhone game in English a few weeks ago, I pretty much saw this coming. & it's yuri, so yay!

Some more oddities abound in the next two titles. The first being 11Eyes, & then it turns out that Shin Koihime Musou was added after all. It seems that while the second season of Koihime is being simulcasted, for some reason Crunchyroll wont be streaming it the same day it airs in Japan. Rather, it'll be a few days later. Same goes for 11Eyes, which has yet to have its first episode added yet. Hard to say what the reason behind this is, but there you go.

Finally there's the second season of White Album. CR also added the first season episodes as well when they announced the second season, so would-be fans can now catchup. It's the same thing they did for Asura Cryin, but for some reason not Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, despite that they're now simulcasting season 2. Also odd, the announcement of this title was delayed a day. It was supposed to be announced on Thursday, but was then changed to TBD, & then announced on Friday.

Speaking of TBD, one more title is yet to be announced. It was originally supposed to be announced this past Friday, but now we don't know when. It's possible that it could be the huge new Romance of the Three Kingdoms series which, despite being confirmed to begin airing this month, has yet to receive a solid air date for Japan yet. I certainly it's the one anyway.

Half a day or so after I reported on FUNimation streaming the controversial unedited version of Strike Witches, their video portal has now changed the streams of both episodes 3 & 4 to the unedited TV version of the series. This version is different from both the edited TV version (which is what streamed on Crunchyroll & YouTube last summer) & the uncensored DVD version (which was what Funi had on their site over the weekend). Apparently the videos were even down for a little while as they made the switch. No more legal naked lolis for you.

I guess for some reason, FUNimation wasn't aware of the content of the episodes when they uploaded, despite the fact that one had to enter their age to verify they were over 18 to watch these episodes. But when I broke word on what they had done & the news spread, someone high up at Funi headquarters must have gotten nervous & ordered the removal of the naked underage girls. So yes, this kinda my fault for reporting on it in the first place. Please don't throw stones at me. Let's just hope this doesn't change plans for the DVD release when it comes out early next year.
