When Shoji Murahama left the troubled Gonzo studio back in April, he vowed to move on to bigger & better things. & just last month, he accomplished that goal. He released a brand new iPhone game called "Goldfish Scooping," where the player... scoops up goldfish. The game is the first creation of his new company Lambda Film, & quite the inaugural product it is.

Goldfish scooping is quite the popular summer activity in Japan. Of course if you sat through every episode of Haruhi's Endless Eight this past summer, you should already be well aware of that fact. The game is available for the iPhone & iPod Touch worldwide. You can download it on Apple's App Store for a mere 99 cents. A little info on the game:

Just as when Capcom released an online demo of the Apollo Justice game last year, they've now put up a demo of the first chapter for the upcoming Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth. Only this time they made it look like you're playing on a Nintendo DSi (not the DSi XL) rather than a DS Lite. The Phoenix Wright spin-off title still wont be hitting North America until February 16, 2010, but this demo should help fight off those Ace Attorney shakes in the meantime. I personally cannot wait. You can find much more info on the game as well as other goodies at the official English website:

Are you a true otaku? Take a look at these quick tests to see if you can see what you're supposed to. If you can quickly recognize which anime character you're supposed to associate with these images, congrats! You spend too much time watching anime. Only one of these gave me a hard time, though if I lived in Japan I'm sure it would've come to me much more quickly. See how well you do by checking out the rest below:

The Strike Witches anime series may have concluded last week, but the love for the pantsu obsessed series continues in other forms. For instance, a couple fan-made games based on the series have recently started to appear online. & the genre for the games is rather well suited for what anime. NO, they're NOT hentai dating games! The OTHER genre- 2D flight shooters! You get to fly as the girls & shoot down the evil enemies that plague their world.

Of course, the games are in Japanese though. But don't fret, as Sankaku Complex has instructions of how to play. As well as download links to download the games to your computer, of course. All the information & links for both games wait for you here:

Last week, FUNimation announced that they acquired the baseball anime series "Ookiku Furikabutte," which will be dubbed under the American title "Big Windup!" It's actually quite a surprising license since, despite it's interesting plot for a sports anime, it's not really all that well-known or popular among fansub watchers. I mean if they really wanted to license a baseball anime, why not the much more well-known & long-running "Major" anime? But I'm not complaining, since as I said, OoFuri actually has a touching story behind it (despite being about baseball, it feels pretty shoujo-esque).

Anyway, the reason I only got around to mentioning this now is because why I did find out about the license last week, I only just discovered HOW they announced it. If you go to FUNimation's website, they actually have a baseball mini-game up on the site. & if you play through it & hit 5 home runs, they'll tell you what the license it. Quite the clever idea, actually. Props to you on your creativity, Funi! You can check out the game here:

A new MMO game has launched online, & best of all it's totally free. But that's not all- its style is also manga inspired. "Lunia" is the name, & fighting through story chapters with manga cut scenes is its game. & since this is an MMO, you'll need partners to play with. Teams consist of four characters, but don't worry if you have enough people to start your own party because the game will automatically set you up with others in need of numbers if need be. Don't worry if you don't have a gaming controller for this PC game. Heck, you don't even need a mouse. All you need are the A, S, & arrow keys.

While the game itself is free, getting good items in the game will cost you. Yeah that's where they get you, but it's not much. All in all the game seems pretty good, & it wont cost you anything to just check it out. More information can be found in the press release below, but you can sign up to play Lunia here:

So whaling in Japan has become a big point of controversy lately. They've been doing a lot of it lately & protesters have been up in arms trying to stop this activity. But now you can show those dirty hippies who's boss with the free downloadable game "Harpooned!" In this game, as you can see in the trailer above, you play as a Japanese ship that's hunting down any & all whales that it can see to make some delicious whale burgers. So what are you waiting for? Get your whale hunting on at the game's official site here:

Loved the first three Ace Attorney games but are hesitant to pick up the fourth now that you're not Phoenix Wright anymore? Well now you can give Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney a test drive right here on the Nebs Blog! A good chunk of the first case is fully playable right here, officially provided by Capcom. So what are you waiting? Try it before you buy it! The game doesn't come out until February 12, so this the perfect chance to test it out.

[EDIT: All this info & websites turned out fake, but there are secret Cloverfield websites out there....]

For those of you who've already seen the Transformers movie in theaters, you may remember seeing a really cool trailer for a movie that had no name. You remember, the one that looked like it was shot with a handheld camera & had moment with the statue of liberty? The only information it gave us was that J.J. Abrams (of Lost fame) & it would be coming to theaters in January 2008.

Well the codename for the title seems to be Cloverland, but that isn't the actual title of the film. In fact, some people believe it may never get a title at all. The actual plot of the movie is being kept a tight secret, but it seems 2 viral websites for the project have crept up online. The bigger of the 2 is a puzzle site called Ethan Haas Was Right, where visitors have to solve tough puzzles in order to get information on what seems to be an underground alliance set on saving the world from an unknown evil force (apparently called "the Parasite"). The other one is blog to "promote" the website by saying it's all garbage, called the Truth of Ethan Haas.

All of this is leading people to think that the movie might have something to do with H.P. Lovecraft's classic short story Call of the Cthulhu. Names are thrown around on the site including Mezin, Alhazred, & references to a "Mad" prophet. These all seem to be references to Lovecraft's Old Ones. Whether or not any of this proves to be true remains to be seen.

Here's a fun little Japanese flash game that's simple & pretty to look at. Called Oshidama, the goal of each level is to push a white ball into the Next slot to move on. It's not quite as easy as it sounds, as there are many obstacles to get in your way, & you only have a certain amount of clicks per level. Still, it's fun & heck & a good way to waste some time. Check it out here:

Not quite the same as the Plasma Pong game we posted a long time ago. In fact if there were an exact opposite of it, this would be it. But it's still fun in it's own right. Check out Text-Based Pong & get your game reading on:

The Adult Swim website has a cool new take on the popular game Sudoku, & it also is treated as a FullMetal Alchemist game. Called the "Alchemy Exam" game, it's based off of sudoku but has made some changes that (for me) make it harder than the classic version. Check it out here & get your game on:
