After just recently announcing that Digimon: Data Squad would be coming to Jetix this Fall, some more information has seemed to link out for the dub. According to a press release, the title character of the series will be called Marcus. He's also listed as being Agumon's partner, so there's no mistake that they're talking about Masaru.

In a related matter, Chris McFeely of the Digimon Encyclopedia says on WtW that he heard a preliminary name for Yoshino being Josie. Of course it should be stressed that this is only preliminary & there's a chance that this wont be the final case (Miyako/Yolei was referred to as Keeley back in the preliminary days of 02). The same might be true of Marcus, although since it's part of a press release it holds a bit more weight. Still, nothing is for certain yet.

Okay, so it's been over a year now since Digimon Savers was first speculated to be coming to America. That wasn't really solid information at the time, but last month we got our first hard information about the series truly being dubbed under the title Digimon: Data Squad. But now reports have hit that Disney has officially licensed the series & will be airing the NebsTV series on their Jetix block this Fall. Sadly I don't get Toon Disney at school anymore, so hopefully they'll be putting it on ABC Kids or somewhere else as well.

In related news, more dub voices have turned up according to WtW. Colleen O'Shaughnessey (who played Sora in the original series & more recently playing Ino in Naruto) will be playing Yoshino. Quinton Flynn (Iruka in Naruto, Kon in Bleach) is also supposedly involved in the series, but it's unknown what role he'll play.

As we talked about earlier, Jetix is leaving ABC Family at the end of this month. But the very next day, Toon Disney will be picking up the slack & taking the hours ABC Family is giving up. Heck, they might as well stop calling it Toon Disney anymore & just call it the Jetix Channel considering all the air time it gets.

At any rate, starting September 1 is when its new Fall schedule will start. Highlights include new shows like Yin Yang Yo, Puca, Jackie Chan Adventures, & an anime-infested Sunday night lineup. Sundays will see the return of Mon Colle Knights, Beyblade, & Shinzo to the air, in addition to Daigunder & Digimon. For the complete Toon Disney lineup, check out the link below:

It's been known for a long time now that Jetix would soon be leaving ABC Family & become a Toon Disney exclusive. But now the time is almost here, & Jetix's plans for its last days of ABC Family have been revealed.

Animation Insider has a good article up about the history of Jetix on ABC Family, & even what the block was like before becoming Jetix. A very nostalgic read for those of us who've been tuning in for many years. (Anyone else remember the "Made in Japan" block? That ruled hard.)

The article also states that in its place, Jetix will be increasing its hours on Toon Disney to replace those lost on ABC Family. This itself is amazing, considering how many hours Jetix has there already. Over its short time on Toon Disney, Jetix has been continously increasing its hours. It started out as only 2 hours a night & went on from there, but as of earlier this summer it increased itself to the current time of 13 hours on weekdays & 16 on weekends. Who knows how many hours it'll have this Fall, & who knows how long before Toon Disney ceases to exist entirely & become the "Jetix Channel." I can actually see this happening, since Jetix does better than the regular line-up. & seeing as how Jetix is the current form of Fox Kids, that makes me happy.

The last day will be Friday, September 1st. ABC Family sitcoms will take the place of the weekend lineup, & movies in run in its place on the weekday run. To say goodbye, Jetix is having a special line-up for its final weekend. It includes the world premier of the newest Jetix show "Yin Yang Yo!" as well new episodes of "WITCH" & "Oban: Star Racers." The full schedule is as follows:

Jetix, the block that Fox Kids evolved into once Disney took over, saw a number of changes this week. It was well known that the amazingly cool looking (& amazingly expensive) "Oban: Star Racers" started this week along with a new season of W.I.T.C.H. But a surprise comes with another new series called "Silverwing." This short series, which already aired in Canada a few years back, will be making its US debut on Jetix tonight. But it's only on at 5:30 Eastern / 4:30 Central in the morning! Why bother airing a brand new series at such an hour? Who knows. But that's not the only odd thing.

Jetix is also expanding to an additional 2 hours by adding it on at the end of every morning on Toon Disney. (Note that for this week only, Jetix is starting an hour later than usual on Toon Disney, so right now it's only 1 additional hour. But after this week it'll start at its usual time & then have the 2 extra hourse at the end.) the oddest thing about the expansion, though, is that it now means Jetix will be competeing with itself. Since Jetix on Toon Disney now ends at 8E/7C in the morning, it's on at the same time for an hour as the Jetix on ABC Family, which airs from 7E/6C to 9E/8C! Way to go Disney for that move! But they do say the best competition to have is yourself. Besides all that, Jetix will soon no longer be broadcasting on ABC Family anymore, so I guess it really wont matter. Jetix sure is taking over Toon Disney channel pretty quickly. Soon it might become an all Jetix channel, which I would actually be in favor of.

A brand new anime-inspired series is coming soon to Jetix. "Oban Star Racers" starts June 5th on the action block, & I must say it looks awesome. This looks to be the best new series from Jetix since WITCH. I really hope it's as good as it looks. Check out the trailer for the series at the official site:
